TWO Chippenham businesswomen are joining Chancellor George Osborne and other senior politicians today to celebrate Small Business Saturday.

Debbie Williams, co-director of John Williams Heating Services, and Sam Cox, founder of Active Potential Therapy, are heading to The Treasury in London after being invited to attend a government reception to promote the national campaign.

Both businesswomen run companies on the Bumpers Farm Industrial Estate in Chippenham and their companies were both chosen from hundreds as part of the Small Biz 100, showcasing a hundred small enterprises nationwide.

The initiative is designed to encourage people to spend their money with local shops and suppliers as well as recognise the contribution SMEs make to communities.

Mrs Williams is co-director of John Williams Heating Services, a plumbing and heating company which is well established in Wiltshire, Bath and surrounding areas and employs 18 people.

She said: “I’m delighted to have been invited to meet the Chancellor and other government ministers and I hope they appreciate the contribution businesses like ours’ make to the health and wealth of the country.”

Meanwhile Sam Cox is founder of Active Potential Therapy, a business which provides high quality sports therapy to anyone who wants to improve their mobility, keep active and stay active.

She said: “It’s exciting for me, just a year into running my own clinic, to have this amazing opportunity. I passionately believe in supporting local small businesses both as a consumer and as an entrepreneur.”

Tomorrow - on Small Business Saturday - Miss Cox will be in the Emery Gate Shopping Centre in Chippenham offering free sports therapy treatments to shoppers and promoting the small business initiative .
