WEST Wilts men suffered a double setback in their quest for the GoCrea8 Men's League's Conference North division as they were beaten twice at home at the weekend.

The Warminster side were edged out by a single goal by leaders Wotton-under-Edge on Saturday and, 24 hours later, were beaten 3-1 by mid-table Whitchurch A.

In gale-force winds and rain - and up against a strong Wotton side containing ex-England international Matt Fairburn - Wilts' unbeaten home record was ended by a goal within the first 10 minutes of the match, despite the efforts of Matt Elloway, Dave King, Ben Creedy and Charlie Dillion.

On Sunday, Wilts again fell behind to a penalty corner but were back on level terms before half time as the ball was deflected home by King.

The second half started off as a more even affair until a penalty stroke was awarded to Whitchurch gave them the lead again.

A further goal followed and, despite Craig Killminster and James Baker going close, the home side were unable to get back on terms.

WEST Wilts Ladies remain out in front in the West Clubs League's Wessex Division One after a 6-2 victory over county rivals Corsham on Saturday.

Good pressure by Lauren Trim allowed Livie Evans to slot home the opener but Corsham levelled before Evans and Jess McLean made it 3-1.

Lulu Cope and McLean added further goals before half time, Corfsham again replying, but McLean completed her hat-trick after the break.
