AROUND 100 Year 11 students from Clarendon Academy in Trowbridge were dressed to the nines for their leavers’ day prom at Cumberwell Golf Club last week.

A summer theme proved successful for the school as the sun shined down on its pupils arriving in lavish gowns and suits for the exciting evening following their GCSE exams.

Andy Ridyard, assistant head of sixth form at Clarendon, said it was a fantastic night which was made extra special by the convoy of cars that the students arrived in.

He added: “There was a greater range this year, from a truck cab, through an array of sports cars and limos, to several historical cars, including a fantastic Isetta bubble car and a superb purple version of the Trotters’ yellow Reliant, complete with billowing smoke and ‘whale-tail’ rear wing.

“I didn’t see anyone trying the huge clockwork key on the boot, so here is hoping there was enough juice to get it home.

“Summer flourished outside with the ice cream van getting there early, and free ice creams for all students as the sky became an even brighter blue.

“Summer continued inside with bright party decorations, a delicious buffet and summer dance music galore to keep the dance floor thumping through the evening.”

Partygoers were also treated to a photo booth.
