HEDDINGTON pre-schoolers can now learn and play in the great outdoors after a £5,000, year-long fundraising campaign came to fruition.

Having received a grant from the OneFamily Foundation the school spent the money on their very first outdoors learning area, where their children are able to explore and learn about the natural environment.

Manager of Heddington Pre-School, in Church Road, Leanne Weston, said: “It is all about being outdoors and getting muddy and learning about nature.

“It is really good for children’s social development and for them to build confidence and provides them with a different type of environment.

“We would like to say a big thank you for the grant and to all the staff that have helped with the site.

“We now have some vegetable boxes and three ducks. We had some eggs and they hatched and now we have some school ducks.”

The outdoor learning zone is placed on land that was donated to them by the Heddington Parish Council in 2012, which had previously been used as a garden for the school.
