WYLYE Valley School in Codford dazzled audiences with four performances of Olivia last week.

Pupils from the school acted and sang their way through the performances at the Woolstore Theatre as teachers and parents watched on.

Teacher Lynn Paul, director of the production along with Helen Thornton, said: “The kids did an absolutely fantastic job and thoroughly enjoyed themselves, whilst learning about the Victorian times.

“We had rehearsals after lessons where pupils also made programmes which were sold at the performances, with the money raised going to charity Louie’s Smiles.

“All 105 pupils at the school were involved in some way, whether it was being up on stage acting or being part of the choir.

“Olivia is a great musical not only because it’s an uplifting story but because it involves a wide range of roles, meaning everyone had a part to play.”

The school puts on a production every two years, it is not yet known what the next production will be.

Olivia, loosely based on the more widely known Oliver, traces the steps of the protagonist from orphan to star of the stage, with cameos from Ebenezer Scrooge, Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson.
