RESIDENTS of Clift House in Chippenham have raised £650 for the Julia’s House appeal after holding a charity tea party.

The annual event raises money for local causes with residents at the warden controlled flats this year choosing to give the money to Julia’s House, a hospice which supports ill children.

“We want to do it for local charities so this year decided to do it for Julia’s House,” said resident Edna Bird, who along with fellow resident Beryl Johnson organised the tea party.

“It was very good and on the day we had about 30 people there.

“The Wiltshire Gazette and Herald put in a bit about Julia’s House Lottery and we all decided that was who we wanted to give the money to.”

Wiltshire fundraising manager for Julia’s House, Ian Wadley, said: “Events like this are absolutely vital to Julia’s House.

“We have to raise 95 per cent of the funds we need to be able to throw out a lifeline to families struggling to cope with a very sick child.

“We are so grateful to Clift House for choosing us as their charity and raising such a magnificent sum of money.

“It’s a brilliant of example of the community getting behind our new Wiltshire children’s hospice.”
