HORSE riders can inch closer to tackling one of the world's most demanding courses by taking part in the Badminton ride around the park and estate to raise money for the SSAFA, The Armed Forces Charity.

With fences for the most novice of riders, the Badminton Ride which will take place on Sunday, September 18, offers a course extending round the home of the Duke and Duchess of Beaufort and the celebrated lake.

The ride has been run for more than thirty years and has since raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for national and local charities and although the event requires volunteers from across the country, many come from the Beaufort Hunt.

Captain Ian Farquhar, a joint master of the hunt said: "I am very proud of the part that the Beaufort has played since the Ride`s inception and we all like seeing riders from right across the country enjoying a chance to ride in these beautiful surroundings and at the same time helping to raise funds for good causes - it is particularly gratifying that this year the Ride is supporting SSAFA and the wonderful work they do to help members past and present of our Armed Forces"
