THREE nurses and three North Swindon PCSOs have been hailed heroes after their quick actions helped save the life of man with 'no pulse'.

The man collapsed in the Orbital Retail Park at around 2pm today near the customer service hub.

And luckily within seconds the nurses, who are all ex paramedics, and PCSOs Lee Hare, Billy Corpe and Dominic Tonge were on the scene to help revive the man with a defibrillator and clear the area for safety.

The PCSOs also helped secure a safe landing site for Wiltshire Air Ambulance, as well as with road closures and crowd control.

While the nurses - Sarah Cumming, Natasha Cozens and Chantal Rayner - dashed from the SEQOL building to help resuscitate the man and carry out CPR.

It is understood the man is now breathing independently and is being flown to a hospital for further care.

A number of shoppers helped administer first aid as well after seeing the man collapse in front of them before the nurses and emergency services arrived.

PCSO Hare said: “A call came across the radio that a gentleman had collapsed.

“The adrenaline kicks in and you go into autopilot. We had people doing first aid, crowd control and road closures and everything fell into place and everyone worked together.

“Thankfully it seems to have a happy ending and fingers crossed he will recover and be ok.”

A statement on North Swindon Police's Facebook page read: "You may be aware of two helicopters in North Swindon - someone collapsed at the Orbital Retail Park.
