THE NEW season for the Wharf Theatre in Devizes has already kicked off with a successful gala to show the staff’s appreciation for everyone’s hard work.

The opening Saturday of The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, on September 24, was well attended by Mayor of Devizes Jane Burton as well as friends, past members and volunteers of the theatre in Couch Lane, all invited by the trustees as a way of saying thank you for all of the support they have received.

Cassandra Fisher, 33, of London Road, publicity manager for The Wharf, said: “It was a really good event, we had a lot of people turn up to enjoy a nice evening of champagne, canapes and the Little Voice performance. There were lots of very well-dressed people who arrived at the Wharf, a very nice way to start off the season.

“The performance itself was amazing, Lottie Diddums, who plays the main character, has such an amazing voice. Everyone really enjoyed it.”

As well as starting with their best foot forward, the volunteers at The Wharf are also appealing for anyone who may be interested in helping out over the next year.

“Anyone can help the theatre, it could be anything from costumes to backstage work, from doing the teas and coffees to doing the programmes. My life is the Wharf and I love being part of it, but I do need some help now,” added Mrs Fisher.
