TWO women who are accused of being involved in the trade on cocaine and rave drug ketamine are to face trial by judge and jury.

Amy Massey, 27, and Amanda Neskovich, 25, pleaded not guilty to possessing the substances with intent to supply, when they appeared at Swindon Crown Court.

And Alexander Meikle-Taylor, 26, also pleaded not guilty to possessing class B drug ketamine with intent to supply, though he accepted having some cannabis.

All three are said to have had the drugs, which they accept possessing, in the Swindon area on Thursday, April 28, this year.

Judge Tim Mousley QC adjourned the case to Monday, March 6, when they are to face trial on the allegation the cocaine and ketamine were for supply.

He released Massey, of no fixed abode, Meikle-Taylor, of Reeds, Cricklade, and Neskovich, of Woburn, Milton Keynes, on bail.

A cancer sufferer who is accused of carrying out a serious assault has been released on bail by a judge.

Luke Wearne, who is about to start chemotherapy for testicular cancer, faces one charge of grievous bodily harm in relation to an incident on Sunday, July 17.

Wearne, 26, of Affleck Close, Toothill, is said to have left a man with a fractured skull and bleed on the brain.

No charge has formally been put to Wearne and he has yet to enter a plea to the allegation.

Judge Sir John Royce, sitting at Swindon Crown Court, adjourned the case to Friday, November 18, and released him on bail until then.

A woman who allowed drug dealers to use her house has been released on bail by a judge.

Dawn Tooze pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin and cocaine when she appeared at Swindon Crown Court.

Tooze, 29, of Walter Close, The Prinnels, admitted her role in the supply of the drugs between April 30 and June 10 last year.

Judge Sir John Royce adjourned the case to Friday November 28 and released her on conditional bail until then.

Daniel Melhado, 32 of Spring Close, Swindon has been sentenced to 20 weeks imprisonment for multiple offences including carrying a lock knife in the town centre on August 26.

Melhado pleaded guilty to other offences including failing to surrender, thefts on September 13, September 17 and August 25. He was ordered to pay compensation of £134 and costs of £40 by Swindon magistrates.

A 55-year-old man has pleaded guilty to possessing two knives in a public place.

Kenneth Dickson, of Carter Close, appeared before magistrates after he was discovered carrying a steak knife with an 11cm blade and a lock-knife with a 2.7inch blade.

He was given a 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115.

A man has appeared before Swindon magistrates charged with stealing £100 worth of meat from Waitrose.

Stuart Jonas, 37, of Fairview, pleaded guilty to the theft and was fined £50, ordered to pay £100 compensation plus a further £35 towards the cost of prosecution.

A drunk driver ordered in August to complete 50 hours of unpaid work in the community for drink-driving has completed the work and the order has been revoked by magistrates.

George Wainaina, 28, a warehouse worker from Furze Close, Swindon, appeared before Swindon magistrates and assured the bench that he would also complete a drink-driving course.

A man who was caught with a knife in a town centre street has been released on bail by a judge.

Jason Davis, 46, also had cocaine when he was arrested on Fleet Street, Swindon, on Monday September 5.

Davis, of Fairfield, Cricklade, admitted possessing a bladed article and having cocaine when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court.

Judge Tim Mousley QC adjourned the case to be listed for sentence at Gloucester Crown Court on a date to be fixed.

Thomas Hook, 22, of Coronation Road, Wroughton, was due to appear before Wiltshire magistrates sitting at Swindon last week but rang in to say that he could not attend because he had a hole in his lung.

Chairman of magistrates Gray Gilbert reminded all defendants that they must produce sick notes from their doctor when failing to attend due to illness or a warrant for their arrest would be issued.
