THE Salvation Army Chippenham Toy Appeal have welcomed a new drop-off point for this year’s event, as estate agents Goodman Warren Beck have joined the festivities.

Located on Market Place, the business has been running for eight years and has already collected two dozen toys since the appeal was launched on November 17.

Director Paul Warren said: “We’ve had a steady flow of toys coming in but we didn’t know anything about it until one of the photographers from the Gazette and Herald said they had to scoot off as they were doing something with the toy appeal and they were looking for drop-off points.

“We’re in an easy place for people to swing in and we’re really pleased by the generosity of people and without a shadow of a doubt we will be doing it next year.

“We would have done it sooner if we had heard about it.”

The annual appeal, which supported 218 underprivileged families provide toys for their children in 2015, was launched in conjunction with the Gazette and Herald.

The appeal will take place until December 9, with drop-off points also including estate agents Wilko in High Street, Sainsbury’s on Bath Road while there are drop-off points in Devizes including Wilko in the High Street and solicitors Awdry Bailey and Douglas, in St John’s Street.

New gifts, not second-hand ones and unwrapped, can be dropped off at the designated areas and then the Salvation Army will distribute them to families who would otherwise struggle to give their children toys.
