THE festive feeling will descend on Stratton this weekend as the annual Christmas fair rolls into town in fabulous fashion.

The fun kicks off at Grange Leisure at 1pm on Friday and people are invited to go along to enjoy an afternoon and evening of music, crafts, ice skating, reindeer, Father Christmas and much more.

Kids can visit the magical winter wonderland grotto, feed the reindeer and tell Father Christmas what gifts they would like to receive this year.

Throughout the fair there will be a variety of dramatic performances from local school children as well as The Big Sing Thing, plus a fabulous line up of craft stalls selling handmade festive treats.

The Stratton St. Margaret Parish Council is also very excited to announce that this year there will be an outdoor ice skating rink in the multi games arena. The rink will be open from 1pm until 6pm on Friday and from 10am until 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Coun Joe Tray, chairman of the Stratton St. Margaret Parish Council, said: “It will be a great weekend for the whole community, both young and old.

“We have so much going on, including a craft fair where people can make Christmas cards with their families and children will get the chance to meet Father Christmas.

“For the first time this year we will have an ice rink, which everyone is really excited about. You don’t need to book, just turn up and have a skate. I’m sure a few future Torvill and Deans can be found in Stratton.”

This year the parish council is very proud to be supporting children’s leukemia charity CALM, and for a small donation visitors can make presents or even their very own reindeer food for putting out on Christmas Eve.

“It’s a good way to bring the community together and raise a bit of money for CALM,” added Coun Tray.

George Scarrott’s Fun Fair will also provide small rides for all the family to enjoy before or after their ice skating.

Grange Leisure is located in Grange Drive, Stratton St. Margaret. During the summer it hosted the annual Stratton fair which also raised money for CALM, the chairman’s chosen charity.
