A DRIVER has been bailed until January 29 after his lorry was involved in a seven vehicle crash on the A420 north of Swindon.

Yesterday a spokesman for Hams Transport, which is based on the Hopton Industrial Estate, Devizes confirmed one of their vehicles had been involved but said their driver had not been injured in the crash and was working as normal this week.

The spokesman said: "We don't know a lot about what happened. It is in the hands of the police but our driver has not been charged. I have spoken to him and he is working. He was not injured."

The accident happened at about 7am last Thursday on the A420 near Faringdon on the Wiltshire/Oxfordshire border and involved two lorries. Five people were injured and one was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford by air ambulance. Another went by road to the same hospital. Three people were treated at the scene.

None of those hurt were said to have life threatening injuries.

Thames Valley Police said a 43-year-old lorry driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. Yesterday the force said the man had been bailed until January 29.
