A BRACE from in-form Dan Cottle ensured that Bradford Town made it four wins on the bounce on Saturday.

Having dispatched Cadbury Heath, Chipping Sodbury Town and Brislington in their previous three outings, notching 11 goals in the process, Bradford faced Hallen Trowbridge Road in the Toolstation League Premier Division.

Cottle gave the home side the lead in the 15th minute before doubling his tally 15 minutes after half-time, with Kane Simpson getting in on the action six minutes later.

A 90th minute strike from Dan Payne was the only blot on the day as Bradford ran out 3-1 winners, to the delight of manager Danny Greaves.

“I’m really pleased and it was a good performance again,” he said.

“It was one of those games where, on paper, you look at it as a banker for three points but it never turns out that way.

“We played really well and created a lot of chances again, as we have been doing in recent weeks and managed to take a few.

“It was a comfortable win, although we let in a goal in the last minute and the scoreline probably flattered them.

“The boys came in to the dressing room a bit disappointed by the fact that we let in a goal, which is pleasing to see really.

“We try to build that kind of mentality into the boys. We want to keep clean sheets, but they can be too hard on themselves at times.

“We’re on a good run now, that’s four unbeaten and we’ve scored 14 goals in that time and let in three.

“It’s been a really good few weeks for us and hopefully we can carry that on.”

A trip to Clevedon Town is next up for Greaves’ side, who sit in fifth place in the Premier Division table, seven points adrift of the top four.

With Bradford facing the other five teams in the current top six in the final seven weeks of the season, Greaves is anticipating a tough run in but won’t let it deter him from his own lofty ambitions.

“There’s not long to go and our run in is pretty tough,” he added.

“We’ve got Clevedon and Brimscombe coming up in the next two league games and then after that, we’re playing the top six sides in the last seven or eight games.

“We can play a part in who finishes in those top positions in the league and hopefully for ourselves, try and claw back some points and close up that gap.

“It’s an exciting end to the season and one that we’re looking forward to.”
