A NEW Devizes theatre group wowed the crowds when they performed their first ever production to hundreds of people over three days.

Young people from Mac's Theatre School brought Beauty & The Beast to life at Devizes School from February 16 to 18. Around 800 people attended the four shows.

Director Stuart MacFarlane said: "I have been so impressed by the dedication and talent of our theatre school members. All did us proud and worked so hard to put on an amazing first show.

"The future looks bright for us. We intend to run weekly workshops for actors, take a trip to Disneyland to perform Beauty & the Beast on stage and launch Mini Macs theatre training for younger years."

Publicity manager Karen Sims said: "The show was more successful that we could have imagined, we had much local support from public buying tickets to local businesses who sponsored us by advertising in our brochure. Devizes books must be thanked for their fantastic support, they acted as ticket office for over two months."

The lead roles were taken by Harvey Schorah as the beast, Evie Smith & Hannah Wilson, who shared the part of Belle, Joe McMillan, Gaston, Lauren Maslen Stevens, Lumiere, Imogen Kelly, Cogsworth, Sophie Romans and Jack Woods, who shared Lefou, Grace Sheridan, Mrs Potts, Rosie Boother, Maurice, and Flora Kelly, Babette.
