BUSINESSES, community groups and schools alike are doing their part for this year's Red Nose Day appeal.

Hundreds of people across the county are donning weird and whacky costumes and taking part in a variety of colourful and fun activities whilst collecting money for this year's fundraising appeal.

Staff at Blue Max Banner Limited in Kennet Way, Trowbridge, have put on their fancy dress and started a bake sale to do their bit. Elsewhere in Trowbridge, the children at Tumble Tots play group in Paxcroft have dressed up in red for the day.

In Warminster, the members of staff at Specsavers have also decided to throw a bake sale, offering members of the public the chance to indulge their sweet tooth and contribute to the fundraising goal. As well as cakes, the opticians is also selling comedy waving hand glasses for £2 a pair.

Store director Richard Goring says: "The glasses are fantastic and we’ll be encouraging everyone who buys a pair to also join our giant Mexican wave on social media as well. Simply strike a pose with your glasses and post with the #GiveUsAWave to receive your very own wave back."
