ALREADY in two cup finals this season, Luxol St Andrews missed out on a third final appearance after they were beaten 3-2 in the heavyweight Chantry Digital-sponsored Knockout Cup semi-final showdown with Division One champions and cup holders Melksham Town A, whose victory set up a repeat of last term's final with Warminster Town Reserves who they beat 1-0 to lift the trophy.

Melksham’s cup final goal scoring hero from last season Rhys Talmash gave the cup holders the lead when he scored from the penalty spot.

Luxol restored parity through Tom Rooney who netted after latching on to an excellent through ball from Jed Osbourne.

Melksham regained the lead prior to half time, Luxol’s centre half gifted the ball to Graham Griffiths, who fired home through the unfortunate Hunt’s legs.

An unbelievable error from Luxol’s usually rock-solid keeper Bareja Lukasz saw him robbed by Graham Griffiths, who bagged his second of the game to give Melksham a 3-1 lead.

Luxol gave themselves a lifeline when Osbourne played in Rooney for his second of the afternoon and although Luxol laid siege to the Melksham goal for the final 10 minutes of the game they were unable to grab a third as Dave Jenkins' side held firm to claim their spot in the final.
