DIVISION Two leaders Calne Eagles were given an unexpected boost to their hopes of beating Three Daggers to the title after Daggers suffered their first defeat of the campaign.
A 3-2 loss for Sam Tucker’s side at home to an impressive Bradford Town Youth outfit means that Dagger’s must beat basement side Trowbridge Wanderers Development in their final game in a fortnight’s time to be champions.
Bradford, who were excellent all around the pitch and thoroughly deserved their victory, went ahead via a Scott Baker header and a brilliant free kick from Baker saw them double their advantage before Jon Hogarth halved the deficit for Daggers.
Bradford stretched their lead courtesy of Dean Goddard and a late push from Daggers saw Phil Hampson set up a tense finale in which Bradford had a goal disallowed five minutes from time.
