PEOPLE across Wiltshire are being asked what they think about proposed plans for GP out-of-hours and 111 services in the county, which could see them being offered video consultations with medical staff.

Healthwatch Wiltshire are carrying out a survey and organising public workshops to find out what locals think about plans to make the out of hours service easier to access and quicker to respond.

The meeting on April 11 is taking place in the Usher suite at the Civic Centre in St Stephen's Place from 10am-12pm.

Dr Sara Nelson from Healthwatch Wiltshire said: "Nationally the NHS is looking at ways in which the urgent care system can be changed to improve patient experience and to make sure people get more appropriate access to care.

"They are looking at ways to help take the strain off the emergency departments and want to encourage people to make better use of the 111 service and see this as the main point of access for urgent care.

"In Wiltshire, our local commissioners are also looking at ways in which the urgent care system can be improved to make sure that people get to see the right person, in the right place, at the right time."

This is being carried out on behalf of Medvivo - a provider of care services in Wiltshire - and they are bidding for a contract to provide an integrated urgent care service in Wiltshire.

Their plans include making the 111 service more person focused and personal, video conference consultations with medical staff, and tailor-made after care plans sent to patients by email or text.
