Young Swindon singer, Tayler McNally, has been asked to support The Bon Jovi Experience at the Wyvern Theatre this week.

Being dropped at the audition stage of TV's The Voice Kids was a devastating blow to the 13-year-old singer/guitarist, despite getting through to the last 160 from thousands of entries.

But she was determined not to let it get her down, and following the old adage of the show must go on she picked herself up and got ready to perform that same night.

Her mum Leona said the same day Tayler received the news about The Voice Kids she was booked to support Josh Kumra, at The Vic in Old Town. The Covingham singer/songwriter, who goes to Dorcan Academy, had a number one hit alongside rapper Wretch 32, with Don't Go in 2011.

Leona said: "He has been so supportive of Tayler. At only 13 he must see something in her to help her out.''

It is thanks to the singer that Tayler has scooped her slot at the Wyvern. She was playing at Josh's open mic night at Club 53 in Tetbury when she was spotted by Tony, the lead singer in the tribute band to Bon Jovi.

Leona said: "Tayler was singing and playing guitar to Hotel California, when we spotted a guy in the crowd who looked like Jon Bon Jovi.'' He jumped up and asked to sing a duet with Tayler as he really liked her version of one of his favourite songs. Tony began singing at an early age himself. He was six when he was chosen for the infants school choir before going on to perform in bands.

After the Tetbury open mic Tony promised that if he brought his theatre show, The Bon Jovi Experience, locally he would ask Tayler to be part of the show.

"That was last August,'' said Leona, "He phoned out of the blue and now she has a 25 minute slot before the band, on the stage of the Wyvern Theatre this Saturday.''

Tayler will be singing six songs at the Swindon theatre including a track by her music hero, Ed Sheeran, her signature rock pop song Valerie and of course Hotel California for Tony.

"Tayler once told me that if she could play at The Vic, like Ed Sheeran did, before she was 18 she would be happy. Well she has done it at 13,'' said Leona.

Tayler has always loved her music and could hum along to the radio, long before she could talk or walk. Her mum says she is not your usual teenager, she will be 14 in June, as she is so dedicated to her music.

"She is not all skimpy tops and pink pop princesses. She likes her own style. Her knock back at The Voice has made her more determined.''

Tickets to see The Bon Jovi Experience and Tayler on Saturday, April 22 from 7pm are £21.50 from 01792 524481 or www.swindontheatres.co.uk - Flicky Harrison
