THE Chippenham firm which runs Wiltshire’s out-of-hours GP service has been rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Medvivo, based at Fox Talbot House, provides support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, paid for by NHS Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group and Wiltshire Council.

Michelle Reader, Medvivo’s director of quality and business development, said: “We pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality care across every service area.

“Our teams work extremely hard to make sure that our services are safe, effective and person-centred.

“Receiving this outstanding rating from the CQC really demonstrates the dedication, commitment and hard work of everyone at Medvivo.

“We will not become complacent though, we will continue to monitor our performance, find new ways of working and identify ways in which we can improve.”

The service was rated outstanding for being effective, responsive to people’s needs and well-led, and good for being safe and caring.

The report says patients said they were treated with compassion, dignity and respect, risks to patients were assessed and well managed and that there was an open and transparent approach to safety.

Professor Steve Field, chief inspector of general practice, said: “I am delighted to highlight the exceptional service at Fox Talbot House, people are entitled to services which provide safe, effective, compassionate and high quality care.

“The staff here have demonstrated a real commitment to their patients.

“All of this hard work and dedication pays off in making a real difference for their patients – which is why we have found the service to be outstanding.

“I hope other out-of-hours services will see this provider as a model for excellent care.”
