POLICE and paramedics were called to Trowbridge town centre this morning after a woman appeared to have become distressed.
Workers along Church Walk say they saw the woman walking down the path screaming, shouting and banging on shop windows before police officers arrived.
An employee from Partners Employment who did not want to be named said she then saw the distressed woman hit one of the police officers over the head with her coat as he approached her.
Police officers and paramedics attempted to calm the woman down outside Howard Travel.
