MELKSHAM Town wrapped up third place in the Toolstation League Premier Division with a 5-1 thumping of Wells City at Oakfields on Saturday.

Darren Perrin’s side netted four times in the second half to finish behind champions and second-placed Street – a position the Wiltshire men hope will be enough to earn them elevation to the Southern League next season.

Melksham, who have also announced a pre-season friendly against League One side Bristol Rovers on Saturday, July 8 at their Oakfields base, go to Gillingham Town in the semi finals of the Les Phillips Cup tomorrow (Monday).

Meanwhile, Bradford Town concluded their campaign with a 1-1 home draw against Willand Rovers.

Bradford took the lead in the final 10 minutes of the first half as Dylan Hatt and Kane Simpson combined to set up Martin Lenihan, who found the top corner from 25 yards.

Willand levelled 11 minutes from full-time as Dan Western headed home, with Bradford ending the season in a best-ever fifth position.

In the First Division, Calne Town finished second from bottom after they were thrashed 5-1 at Bishop Sutton.

A goal behind after 10 minutes, Calne levelled when Max Wyatt’s strike hit the underside of the bar and Xavier Perkiss reacted to head home.

Visiting keeper Cameron Shipway saved a penalty just past the midway point of the first half, but they fell apart in the second half as they conceded four times.

Jamie Norman and Aaron Ledgister both netted as Chippenham Park beat Almondsbury UWE 2-1 at Hardenhuish Park, to finish in a superb eighth place after a difficult first half of the season.

Dan Sloan and Ali Bradley netted in the second half as Devizes Town beat third-placed Cheddar 2-0 at Nursteed Road, with manager Darran Walters expected to remain in charge next season.

Nigel Tripp signed off as manager of Corsham Town with a 1-0 win at Portishead Town, Josh Bright scoring the only goal for the visitors, who had Aaron Masson sent off.

Malmesbury Victoria finished ninth in the table as they secured a 2-1 win at Welton Rovers, while Westbury United signed off with a 1-1 home draw against second-placed Hengrove Athletic.

Warminster Town lost 3-2 at Chard Town.
