An award winning male choir will be coming to STEAM in July for a summer concert.

The Wessex Male Choir are bringing along some talented friends for their concert at the museum on Saturday July 15.

The Swindon-based choir’s principal accompanist Jon Driver will show off his piano skills with a solo spot in the concert and the Wessex Chamber Choir will also be performing.

Harmony group After Eight will also be entertaining the audience with some lighthearted and quirky numbers.

Italian composer Giorgio Susanna has given the Wessex Male Choir special permission to perform his emotional work ‘Io Resto Qui’ in the UK at the concert.

Fans can also expect to hear a programme full of toe-tapping light-hearted songs mixed with old favourites and a variety of new songs and arrangements,

Wessex Male Choir Musical Director Rhiannon Williams-Hale said: “We have a multitude of talented people within the Choir and this is a fabulous opportunity for the audience to hear them perform.”

The Wessex is renowned for its lively performances which combine their impressive vocals with top-notch lighting and stagecraft to bring the music to life.

The choir was originally formed in 2001 and now has 50 members. Singer Aled Jones is the patron of the Wessex Male Choir which has supported several local charities over the years.

In 2016, the choir won the Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival 2016 for best choir in all competitions, which they also won in 2008 and 2013.

Tickets for the July concert are now on sale and cost £12.50 per adult. Tickets for under-16's are free.
