A CHIPPENHAM pensioner has pleaded guilty to seven charges of making, possessing and distributing hundreds of indecent photographs of children and dozens of movies of a similar nature.
Richard John Hurt, 66, of Avonview, London Road, spoke only to confirm his name, date of birth and address and to plead guilty to each of the charges when he appeared before District Judge Simon Cooper at Swindon Magistrates Court on July 12.
Two of the charges involved the most serious category A indecent images, two of category B, two of category C and one of possessing 10 prohibited images of a child.
The offences were committed over a period between January 26, 2013 and January 12, 2017 and were all said to have taken place in Devizes.
The charges involved 155 category A images and 23 movies of the same category. There were 183 category B images and three movies and 98 category C images.
Hurt was committed to Swindon Crown Court for sentencing on a date to be fixed.
He was released on bail on the condition he have no knowing unsupervised contact with a child under the age of 16 in a place of privacy.
