Brimble Hill School held a summer fete at Swindon Rugby Club with fun on a bouncy castle, games and sports.

Parent Cheryl Baker organised the fete to raise money for the school, which caters for children with severe or profound learning disabilities.

She said: “It’s really busy and we already made £200 from online donations before the event started. I’m hoping to hit £1,000.”

School headteacher Alison Paul said: “We rely on fundraising to enhance the curriculum and buy extra equipment like fuel for the minibus, extra bikes, trikes and outdoor equipment.”

Children’s charity Swindon Children Without A Diagnosis (SCWAD) was among the stalls at the fete. Trustee Sarah Cook ran the stall with Claire Pignatelli, whose son has been helped by the charity.

Sarah said: “We have 45 families at the moment and and use donations to take children with rare or undiagnosed conditions on trips and have monthly activity sessions.

“If you don’t have a diagnosis or have a rare condition, you can feel like you don’t fit in anywhere, so SCWAD was founded for people to come along and be part of our group.

“We wanted to come here to get the word out to parents we could help who might not have heard of us, it’s been lovely.”
