THE third annual match in memory of Swindon anglers Godfrey Hargreaves and Chris Ayris took place on the River Avon at Sutton Benger near Chippenham.
The match was organised by Peter Gilbert, of Gilbert Cameras to celebrate the lives of Hargreaves, the founder of the Swindon Talismen Match Group and Ayris, who was well-known among Swindon anglers and a landlord of the Regent Pub in Victoria Road, at which the Talismen met.
Swindon businessman Hargreaves, who died four years ago, also owned the House Of Angling shop on Commercial Road for more than 30 years before retiring and moving to Cornwall.
Len Baldwin was the overall winner, triumphing from his below weir vantage point with 9lbs 8oz.
Nigel Russell, the secretary for Swindon Isis Angling Club, was second from above the weir with 9lbs 4 oz.
Rob Normington, who like Baldwin was below weir, took 9lbs 3 oz for third place.
