A 'cake-off' competition is to be held at Best Western Plus Angel Hotel in Chippenham on Monday (September 25) as part of their Macmillan coffee morning.

Members of the community are invited to take part in Chippenham's very first cake-off competition, to raise money for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity, as part of their national fundraising day on Friday, September 29.

For those wishing to take part in the competition, cakes will need to be delivered to the hotel by 9am on Monday, with a submission fee of £2. Judging will commence at 9.30am and the winner of the cake-off will be announced at 11am, and visitors will be able to sample the cakes themselves.

It will be judged by MP Michelle Donelan, Mayor Mary Norton and Macmillan Cancer Support's Fundraising Manager, Steven Goodrick.

Mr Goodrick said: “Every day in Wiltshire around 10 people receive a cancer diagnosis and there are at present around 24,000 people living with cancer across the county. Macmillan try to help as many people as possible, and it is through the amazing support of everyone in the community that means our reach can go a little further. Last year people in the Chippenham area raised a fantastic £18,000.00 by running a coffee morning.

“Our sincere thanks to Alicya, everyone at the Angel Hotel, and the kind people of Chippenham for their brilliant support for Macmillan this year.”

The team at the Angel welcome the local community and businesses to join them on Monday, September 25 from 9am to raise money for this fantastic cause.

As well as the cake competition, a selection of sweet treats, tea and filter coffee will be available with a £3 donation to Macmillan Cancer Support, whilst the bar will be open for visitors to purchase speciality coffees and other beverages.
