GOLDENLEY Care Home in Chippenham has been issued a warning over six breaches of care regulations and graded as "inadequate" overall by the Care Quality Commission.

The Forest Lane based home, which looks after 19 people, was criticised for not completing adequate risk assessments, restricting residents' smoking habits and failing to comply with previous demands to improve the service in the report published on September 19.

The care home is also facing an investigation by Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Council after several "serious allegations" were made about potential abuse at the home including verbal and physical abuse at the home and poor care practice.

Inspectors viewed the day-to-day activity of the care home over four days in June and July, where they identified offensive graffiti on the front wall and a large amount of rubbish outside as well as roaming residents.

However, the report also highlighted positive comments from residents about staff and their conduct, visiting hours and nutrition.

Care home director Satbir Singh Ahluwalia said: "We do not accept the report by the CQC as we have raised issues with the way some of the things were interpreted. It is inaccurate and we will be going back to them.We have never disputed a report before but on this occasion we will.

"All apart from one member of staff have been cleared from the allegations of abuse and the decision on that remaining member of staff is still pending by police and in my opinion there is no valid evidence to prove those allegations.

"We of course carry out our own reviews when allegations are made and an action plan is in place already to tackle these issues and to encourage staff to work together. We are also working and liaising with Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Council and they have no problem with us."

Wiltshire Council and Wiltshire Police have been approached for a comment.
