MAGISTRATES ordered Marc Houston to do an extra seven hours of unpaid work after he missed probation appointments.

Houston, 27, of Beech Avenue, admitted breaching a community order made in June and explained to the Swindon court he worked five days a week as a landscaper and did overtime at weekends. Because he also picked up his child he struggled for time but he said his boss had instructed him to complete the order.

Probation reported he had done eight hours so far, with 100 still outstanding. Houston was also told to pay £60 court costs.

A 46-year-old man has been fined and disqualified from driving after being found to be over the drink-drive limit in the town centre.

Shaun Beck-Jones, of Cedars Close, was found to have 45 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, over the limit of 35, on August 25. He was stopped while driving a Fiat 500L on Carr Street.

He was fined £80 at Swindon Magistrates' Court and ordered to pay a £35 victim surcharge and £85 in costs. He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.

A 39-year-old man has been jailed for two months after pleading guilty to two charges of theft.

Paul Simmons, of Courtenay Road, stole two bottles of Gordon’s Gin, worth £15 each, a jar of coffee worth £4.49 and a Circo Berry worth £20 from the Tesco on Ocotal Way on April 14. Simmons also stole a £600 silver and black Trek 6000 mountain bike from New College.

The offences were considered especially serious because he is a serving prisoner. He was also ordered to pay £115 to victim services.

A 67-year-old man from Cricklade has been remanded in custody until October 3 after being found guilty of breaching a restraining order three times.

Richard Kidner from Bishopsfield pleaded not guilty to all three charges but magistrates found that he broke his restraining order on June 11, June 13, and at some point between May 31 and June 11.

Swindon magistrates fined a man £100 and told him to pay another £60 prosecution costs after he admitted failing to comply with a community order by failing to go to supervision and unpaid work sessions.

Jordan Woods, 23, of Boscombe Road, Moredon, told the bench on Monday his brother had been diagnosed with a brain tumour and he had wanted to give him priority. He also had difficulty saying no when his employers wanted him to work.

Magistrates congratulated a Stratton man who has had his community order revoked.

Matthew Raheb, 22, of Hatch Road, was given a community order by Swindon Magistrates' Court in January, requiring him to undertake up to 15 rehabilitation days.

It replaced a previous order to complete 90 hours of unpaid work handed out to Raheb after he pleaded guilty to harassment, possession of cannabis, driving while under the influence of drugs and failing to stop for a police officer.

On Monday, Swindon magistrates heard that Raheb had completed the requirements of his community order to the satisfaction of probation officers.

Rachel Elizabeth Eedes, 32, of Silbury Mews, Moredon, appeared before Swindon magistrates charged with failing to comply with the requirements of a community order.

However, after probation officers were unable to carry out a drug rehabilitation requirement assessment, magistrates adjourned the hearing of her case until Friday, October 6.

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of James Andrew Leach.

Leach, 29, of Portal Road, Pinehurst, had been due to appear before Swindon magistrates charged with failing to comply with the requirements of a community order.

The Pinehurst man failed to attend unpaid work appointments on two dates in August.

Magistrates heard that he had been sent a letter on September 11 telling him to attend court on Monday, October 2. But on Monday afternoon he had still not arrived.

A warrant for his arrest without bail was issued by magistrates.

Daniel Cheesley was given an extra seven hours of unpaid work after he admitted failing to turn up to a probation appointment as part of a community order.

Cheesley, 29, of Holliday Close, Abbey Meads didn’t attend an induction appointment for unpaid work and gave no reasonable explanation, Swindon magistrates heard on Monday. He was ordered to do an extra seven hours on top the 40 hours already imposed.
