TROWBRIDGE locals dug out old clothes from the late 1960s to the late 1980s for a fashion get-together to celebrate the 50th anniversary of homosexuality being decriminalised.

Residents brought in old clothes from the period of 1967-87, as the museum celebrated the milestone and also talked about the issues affecting people from the LGBTQ community.

“We are very grateful for those people who came down and gave us their clothes for the day. We had some weird and wonderful donations,” said museum manager David Birks.

“Some of the costumes that were given in left us scratching our heads a bit as we were not sure how, why and when you would wear it but we had a nice time talking to people about it.

“This was part of a project called Fabric of Life, which looked at how fashion can shape your identity, with a particular focus on lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people.

“This was just a one-off but it was a fun day.”
