A BOOKWORM’S haven has been reopened at the Somerfords’ Walter Power School following a series of donations from a local trust.

The youngest and oldest pupils at the school opened the new library on Tuesday alongside author Fleur Hitchcock, and thanks were given to the St Mary’s Land Trust and the school’s Home and School Association.

Sarah Law, administration officer, said: “The pupils of Walter Powell School were delighted to welcome Fleur Hitchcock, a children’s author, to open their newly refurbished library.

“Fleur talked about how she writes and read extracts from her books to all the pupils. The pupils also had the opportunity to purchase a signed copy of their favourite book.

“The library has been refurbished through generous donations from a local charity St Mary’s Land Trust and the schools Home and School Association.

“The pupils have already been enjoying the new library area and hopefully will benefit from it for many years to come.”
