A CCTV image of a car believed to be linked to a string of burglaries in the Chippenham and Corsham area has been released by Wiltshire Police.

The image of the grey or silver X-type Jaguar was released following reports of two men acting suspiciously around a van in Sheepscroft, Chippenham at 10.50pm on Wednesday (December 6), during a burglary in Bences Lane, Corsham at 11.45pm and then from a van in the same street minutes later.

Despite being disturbed by a resident, the men made off in the Jaguar towards Chippenham with hundreds of pounds worth of tools.

Detective Sergeant Debbie Hatch said: “We believe, from the descriptions given, that all three incidents are linked – we have been conducting a thorough investigation to trace the men responsible and would be really keen to hear from any members of the public who may have information regarding their identity.

"Both men were wearing masks or balaclavas and were wearing dark clothing. It is possible there was a third man in the vehicle.

“We would also like to remind residents to be alert and report any suspicious activity in their neighbourhood – if you think a crime is in progress please call 999.

“Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
