FIND out what a Wiltshire loaf is and sample the delights of the county's finest food as the Wiltshire & Swindon History Centre hosts its first ever Food Festival.

Cheese-maker Ceri Cryer will serve up Wiltshire Loaf, a semi-hard cheese popular in the 18th and 19th centuries, which she makes at the Brinkworth Dairy using her great grandfather’s recipe.

Historians from English Heritage will describe food and feasting at the ancient monument of Stonehenge form 4,500 years ago.

The Women’s Institute will run a pop-up café and traditional possets, raspberry and ginger cheesecake, chocolate porter cake and violet cakes will all be on offer.

Richard Clewer, cabinet member for heritage, arts and tourism at Wiltshire Council, said: “Wiltshire has a rich tradition of wonderful produce and amazing food, and this show is a wonderful way to celebrate our culinary history.It’ll be a mouth-watering day out for the whole family.”

The History Centre in Chippenham is celebrating Wiltshire’s food and drink heritage on April 14 from 10:30am until 4:30pm.
