Swindon Spitfires ended their season on a high after defeating Swindon Town Ladies for the second time this season.

It was Town who opened the scoring in this South West Women's Regional Eastern Division match after 4 minutes, however Spitfires immediately hit back as Skye Peters cross allowed Debbie Rose to head on for Katie Wadey to grab an equaliser.

Peters' helped Spitfires take the lead in the 7th minute as she scored direct from a corner. A few moments later it was Town who equalised taking the scoreline to 2-2. Neither side could break each other down in the hot sun and went into the break level pegging.

In the second half it was Spitfires who took the lead again on 53 minutes as captain Claire Moreton's pass allowed Wadey to score her brace. Her hat trick came in the 66th minutes and 10 minutes from the end a fourth goal from Wadey took the scoreline to 5-2, Katie's 26th goal in 22 matches and the leagues leading goalscorer.

Town did score a third, however this was not enough.

This rounds off a good season back in the South West league and with the introduction of many youngests coming through, then Spitfires will be hoping to improve even more next season.
