TROWBRIDGE international high jumper Tom Gale is clearly still re-adjusting to life post-Commonwealth Games.

While now fully back in training as he re-sets his sights on the summer season after the winter trip Down Under where he made his senior international debut for England Gale could only clear 2.08m, well below his best, to finish fifth in the Loughborough International on Sunday.

INDIVIDUAL victories for Alex Knight, Dylan Stoneman and Tyla Werrett proved to be the highlights on another tough day for Team Bath AC’s athletes in the Midland Premier South West Division of the Youth Development League.

Werrett was arguably the star performer for the team as she marked her competitive debut for the club by winning the U13 girls’ 75m in 10.2secs and the long jump with 4m82 plus added valuable points with second place in the 150m in 20.1secs.

In addition Knight won the U13 boys’ 800m in 2mins 21.4secs and Stoneman triumphed in the U13 boys’ 1500m in 4:52.8 while the U15 boys’ claimed victory in the 4x100m relay event in 48.2secs.

Despite those wins and the advantage of hosting the match at the University track the squad found the higher level of competition tough and finished sixth again with 316 points.

Honourable second places went to Joe Carter in the U15 boys 200m (24.4secs), Kiran Carter in the U15 boys high jump (1.70m), Fraser Middleton in the U15 boys 800m (2:10.5) and Charlie Staddon in the U13 boys 75m hurdles (13.6secs).

Second places in B events went to Fraser Middleton (U15s 100m, 12.0secs), Bailey Ellam (U15s 800m, 2:18.1), Anishah Qazi (U15s 100m, 13.9secs), Josie Carter (U15 girls 800m, 2:39.2) and Dylan Stoneman (U13 boys 75m hurdles, 15.7secs).

Back to the A events and Kiran Carter finished third in the U15s long jump with 5.48m and likewise there were third-placed points for Jonathan Burrows (U15s shot, 8.59m), Alex Knight (U13s high jump, 1.25m), Byron Mander (U13s shot, 6.84m) and Emily Jones (U13s high jump, 1m25).
