BRADFORD-on-Avon based Hannah Brown booked her place in the World and European Canoe Sprint Championships after helping team GB finish seventh in the K4 500m World Cup final in Duisburg at the weekend.
Brown teamed up with Emily Lewis, Deborah Kerr and Rachel Cawthorn as GB finished third in the World Cup semi-final before a seventh-placed finished in the final.
Her efforts proved enough to book her place in the World and European Championship squad, where she will again team up with Lewis and Kerr, while Amy Turner is introduced to the squad.
This year’s World Championships will be held in Montemor O Velho, Portugal, from August 23-26.
Rene Olsen, head coach for the canoe sprint programme, was pleased with the progress the national team has made this season.
He said: “The K4 crew boats have responded well to our strong starts programme and can match the world’s top boats in the first half of the race.
“With 12 weeks of solid training to come between now and the World Championships, we’re in a really good position to be competitive for the A Finals.
“It is valuable to have finished selection earlier this year so our athletes can now have a solid pre-worlds preparation block of training with a clear focus now on delivery at the worlds.”
