YOU’D better hope there are some Time Lords about as a fleet of Daleks is planning to descend upon Chippenham next year.

Doctor Who fanatics who have spent hours painstakingly building their very own Daleks will be attempting to break the world record for the largest number of Daleks in one place.

The current record hasn’t been broken since 2008, when 95 Daleks gathered at the National Space Centre in Leicester.

Group, The Sons of Skaro, made up of Doctor Who Fans who have made their own enemies of the Doctor are organising the world record attempt, which is to be held at The Olympiad in Chippenham on March 10.

Nigel Chivers, 46, from Corston, who has his own Dalek, a replica of the red drone Dalek seen in a 2010 episode with Matt Smith as the Doctor, is looking forward to the world record attempt.

He said: “I haven’t been to a world record attempt before. But there will be some sights that is for sure, it should be something interesting.

“Chippenham is really quite central to a lot of the Daleks in the country, it is almost like Dalek central.

“When you build one, there are a lot of online resources for it. Because they are so difficult to build you can call on other builders for advice and there is a map of where they are in the world.

“Down in the South West there are quite a lot of them.”

But even if you don’t own your very own enemy of the Doctor, you can still take part as the world record attempt is only the centrepiece of the event.

Various Doctor Who related celebrity guests are expected to attend, and there will be talks, Q&As, cosplay competitions, workshops and even a raffle with a chance to win your very own full-sized Dalek.

Money raised will go towards Great Ormond Street Hospital and a Chippenham charity yet to be decided.

Anyone interested in attending should message Sons of Skaro on Facebook.
