PLANS are well underway for Chippenham's annual Christmas festival event to be bigger and better than ever before.

In a change which will mean even more people can enjoy Chippenham's Winter Wonderland, the event has been moved to a Saturday.

On November 24, the town will be filled to the brim with stalls and activities from 1pm-8pm.

Kathryn Crosweller, of Chippenham Connected, said: "This is such a popular event, and we know that lots of local residents miss out on the switch-on when it's on a weekday because they're held up at work.

"Moving the event to a Saturday not only makes it more accessible, but also means we can include more free entertainment for the town to enjoy."

As well as as the Christmas lights switch on, firework display and Santa abseiling into the town, there are a number of events and workshops taking place throughout the day.

Festive LED and children's characters will bring the town to life, and children will have a chance to meet Cinderella in her pumpkin carriage.

Visitors can pop into Santa's Grotto and even visit the Grinch, and take part in paper wreath making workshops.

There will also be storytelling sessions and community carols for all to enjoy, a wide range of food, beverage and craft stalls, and a number of competitions to be announced in the future.

Leader of Chippenham Town Council Cllr Sandie Webb, said: "We are so pleased to be working in partnership with Chippenham Connected to deliver this popular event.

"There will be a brilliant programme of activities for all ages to take part in and get into the festive seasonal spirit."

Applications can now be made for a stall in the market. Anyone interested can contact info@chippenhambid.co.uk.

Due to the scale of this year's event and demand for stalls, spaces are limited and early application is encouraged.
