PLAYER-COACH David Colclough wants to see a repeat performance from Swindon Shock when they take on Richmond Knights in the Men's National Shield.

Shock made a winning start to the 2018/19 season with a comfortable 99-69 win over Dorset Storm in the Men's National Cup.

This weekend's game was set to be played deep into October, but has been rearrange for this Sunday afternoon (3:15 tip).

Colclough believes the adjustment is a good thing as it allows his side to build on the momentum from their opening game.

However, the Shock chief reiterated to his players, that their primary focus should be their National League Division Three South campaign.

Although you would always like to win, I'm hoping the players don't put too much stress on themselves in these kinds of games and try to overdo it.

"I'm just looking for momentum that can be carried over into the regular season," he said. "It’s nice to have the game move in some aspects because we can avoid a double header weekend.

"But in other aspect we lose Mantas Kmita who led the team in scoring and Matt Ford again which are to major pieces of our team. I think our defence is our main focus.

"Offensively I always say it’s a matter of time until we score because we have so many scoring threats on our team.

"Defensively we want to avoid cheap fouls and easy baskets for our opponents."

The Swindon coach also believes his side are more flexible than this time a year ago with a number of players joining the team this season.

"I think our pace and style of play this year is more adaptive to whomever we play," he added.

"We can play big or small ball this season. "We can also play with a high tempo team which was something we tend to struggle with in the past.

"That and our overall basketball IQ is so much better as a team and there is trust being added to our bench players."
