A BUSINESSWOMAN whose cousin was killed in a tragic accident in January has donated money in her memory.

Diane Mills, 47, who owns and runs Direct Response employment services in Roundstone Street, Trowbridge, organised a fundraising bash to mark her firm's 10th anniversary.

She chose Wiltshire Air Ambulance as the beneficiary as its paramedics were called to help her cousin, Elaine Mills, after she was hit by a car in Westwood Road near Trowle Common, on January 6.

Elaine had been out cycling with her friend David McCallum and was stood by the side of the road when she was hit by a Citroen Xsara.

Although Elaine was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath, she later died of her injuries.

Diane held the event at the Civic Hall in Trowbridge on April 23. Entertainment came in the form of soul/funk band Hula Groove from London, as well as casino tables and a drag act.

A host of local businesses provided raffle prizes including The Old Manor Hotel, Knees and Contrast Hair Studios. A giant cheque was donated to air ambulance paramedic Richard Miller last month.

Diane said: "I thought because of what happened (to Elaine) and the fact we were holding the bash, I thought donating money to the air ambulance would be a good idea.

"They (the air ambulance) have invited us to up to their base to have a look around. We will take them up on that."
