PLACES for this year’s Tidworth 10k have sold out and 1000 people will be running on behalf of Salisbury District Hospital’s Caring 4 Kids, Stars Appeal campaign.
Olympic rowing silver medallist Josh West will start the 10k and 3k run at its new home, Tedworth House on November 2.
Josh was a member of the eight-man crew that rowed into second place at the 2008 Beijing Olympics regatta.
The four times Cambridge blue said: “The Tidworth 10 and 3k run is a very popular event with so many people wanting to turn out to support it. For me it’s a real honour to be asked to start the run and do my bit to help what is an extremely important cause.”
Every runner will receive a free Tidworth 10k T-shirt and commemorative medal in recognition of their money raising efforts.
Runners are asked to raise sponsorship towards the £1million Caring 4 Kids campaign to provide additional equipment and facilities for a new Children’s Centre that will open at Salisbury District Hospital in 2010.
Dave Cates, Director of the Stars Appeal said: “We are really excited about the new routes. The 10k will take in the army camp itself before heading off on to Salisbury Plain, which can be quite challenging.
"The 3k by contrast is a much less challenging route and is suitable for all to run, walk or toddle. Pushchairs are welcome too.”
Runners can enter online via the stars appeal website www.starsappeal.org or call the appeal’s office on 01722 429005.
