AN evening of good wine, food and conversation helped raise money for the ongoing refurbishment of a village community centre.
The second annual food and wine tasting evening was held at Seend Community Centre on Saturday attracting more than 100 people.
Organisers said about £500 was raised on the night, which will go towards the ongoing revamp of the centre, set to include a complete redecoration, a new sound system and a suspended ceiling.
Chief organiser Tessa Doe said revellers could sample six different wines with their admission ticket, as well as a host of locally sourced food and a buffet supper.
She said: “There was a mixture of reds, whites, one rose and one sparkling wine.
“It was a good social evening. We had a splendid buffet supper supplied by Jo Waldeck and her team.”
Local food suppliers at the event included Sandridge Farmhouse Bacon from Bromham,Seend-based Terraverte, which supplies ceramic cookware and fruit syrups and Ceri and Chad Cryer, from Brinkworth, who were selling cheese and honey.
Those attending were entertained by 17-year-old busker Josh Hamblin, who played an electric guitar to raise extra funds for the community centre.
The next fundraising event will be charity bingo on December 13. Admission is free and it's eyes down at 8pm.
