AVR ladies scoop team prize

Avon Valley Runners were out in force at the Easy Eighth Cheddar half marathon with the ladies dominating the 282 finishers.

Warm and breezy conditions greeted the members from AVR, who were impressed with the superbly organisation. The race comprised a country route on the Somerset Flats, with the Mendip Hills thankfully as a backdrop rather than part of the course.

The AVR runners enjoyed a successful race ahead of the evening’s storms, with Liz Ringham finishing second lady in a time of 1:29:56 and the AVR ladies’ team, comprising Liz Ringham, Rachel Bown (1:35:36) and Kathy Kinsey (1:40:28) winning the team prize.

First AVR man back was 15th placed Vojtech Hajdu, in 1:23:00.
