THE future of a local radio station serving Warminster and Westbury has been secured two weeks after the company which owned 3TRfm went into administration.
South West Radio (SWR) has bought the station saving several local jobs after its former owners Laser Broadcasting was placed into administration in October.
Among the radio stations saved by SWR were Bath FM, Swindon’s Brunel FM, and West Quay and BCR FM in Somerset.
Paul Roberts, director of SWR, said: “We are very excited about it because 3TR is obviously a key part of the community.
“We are very keen to support it so that it can continue to be successful and a vital part of the community.”
Laser Broadcasting, via subsidiaries, held nine commercial radio licences.
The Darlington-based company first took over the local radio stations in July this year after investing more than £3m with the aim of obtaining 15 radio stations within three years.
Just three months later the company made an application to be placed into administration before a winding up order could be heard.
The winding-up petition was brought by the creditors, Gateshead-based venture capitalist Capital North East No1 Limited Partnership.
Laser Broadcasting was co-founded by Nigel Reeve, the launch sales and marketing director of Classic FM and Nick Jordan, a media sales executive, who previously worked at Invicta Radio.
