Trio claim they also saw orange UFOs

MYSTERIOUS orange lights spotted over Swindon have baffled one couple.

Earlier this week the Adver reported residents in Ashton Keynes had seen unusual sights over the village.

A number of residents had said they had seen several identical bright orange lights high up in the sky.

But Wiltshire Police and the Ministry of Defence both said they had no record of any UFO sightings in recent weeks.

Now a Swindon woman says she, too, spotted the phenomena.

Tina Coates was in her car with her husband a few weeks ago when they spotted something.

“I am usually sceptical about this sort of thing but thought that this was quite unusual,” she said.

“We were driving up by the Rodbourne Arms on Cheney Manor Road when we saw several bright orange lights up in the sky.

“There was nothing else with them. No other lights.

“And they were flying in formation.

“Then they disappeared. This was about 9pm.

“My husband’s friend saw it too. He was walking his dog in Stratton the next morning when he saw the same thing.”

Property developer Justin Stacey and his fiancee Lou Coles spotted three unidentified flying objects just yards in front of them of them as they drove home on Sunday night.

The pair had driven through Hungerford and were heading west along the A338 towards East Grafton at about 8.55pm when they first saw the glowing orange orbs.

Mr Stacey, 37, and Ms Coles, who live at Fosbury, both spotted the UFOs.

He said: “We both noticed these two large orange anomalies in the sky simultaneously.”

They had just passed Doves Farm and took the short cut home along the Ham lane where they pulled into a layby and got out of the car.

Mr Stacey said the two spheres gave out an intense orange light and when he and Ms Coles got out of the car the shapes began to go away from them making it difficult to get pictures with their mobile phones.

Mr Stacey said he had turned his car engine off and no noise came from the orange spheres at all.

“Then a third one approached and came very close to us. It was huge and it looked spherical from the side but round when you saw it head on.”

The object came within about 200 metres of the pair moving at about 50mph.

Mr Stacey said he became frightened.

“We were spooked by it.”

The mystery deepened after Marlborough builder John Etheridge said he saw three similar orange shapes moving across the town on Christmas Eve.

Mr Etheridge said he and his son, Tom watched the mysterious lights.

He said: “They were about 300 feet up and were silent"

You reporters really should talk to easch other !!

Are you sure they were not sky candles? I saw loads of these going up on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.
I know people let them go to remember loved ones they have lost.

Quite possibly PaulD - the most likely cause in our lantern rich skies today. However, one never knows and we had a case last year which turned out to be unique, which did appear to be lanterns when first described.

However, it is important that incidents (even if they are lanterns) are reported to us, so we can maintain our analysis of UFO sightings in the county.

All the best,

Swindon UFO Research.

I saw these lights back in November 2007, they flew over completly silent and in a perfect formation. There is no way they were from this world. Then about 30 minutes later another formation of lights flew over head.

Hi,
Those arent UFO's. I am 14 years old, and I celebrated my birthday on the 6th and 7th December. I had a party over 2 nights and both evenings we let into the sky some glo lanterns! They are very big and colourful and go very high. We were staying at Greenacres Farm, Leigh, Near Ashton Keynes. Photos attached! Family think that it is hysterical and unfortunately it wasnt UFO's!!!

I can honestly say, I saw something.
It was New years Eve ( and before you say it, I was not drunk, I was the driver and on baby duty). We were at my freinds in Priory Vale, watching the fireworks, when one really caught my eye, it looked like a firework going up, but did not explode it carried on moving for five or so mins, then just vanished, no noise, no bang, no special effects. Weird. We went back in to the house and were all chatting about it.
We went to leave about half one, and I looked up again, this time no fireworks, just silence, and there it was again, a orange light moving in the sky, again there for five or so mins, then vanished. But i managed to get a photo, my friend got it on video. All be it not a great photo, but more than what other people got.
I know there are people out there reading this, that probably think its a load of rubbish, I would have too, but I know, what I saw made me feel very nervous and uneasy. Make it out to be whatever.

Chinese Lanterns.... They were the latest fad for New Years Eve.

Hi

We saw them too, in sweden, on the 24th and new years eve. They definately werent lanterns, they were moving to fast in a too straight line. Not up but forward. The various youtube movies showing chinese lanterns doesn't explain anything about what we saw. I'ts not the same thing.

It is absurd how a lot of people who are talking about this always gets the same explanation everywhere; Chinese lanterns! Ufo balloons!

I watched a programme recently about this type of sighting, and perhaps UFO Research can confirm this that the official MOD/Government line, is that no such events exist or will be investigated.

Swindon UFO Research says...
7:53pm Mon 19 Jan 09

Bobfm,
The offical line is that the MOD will not investigate unless they feel it is an issue of national security. They do not in general investigate ufo sightings, and in that respect there is little point in contacting them. However they do record everything, so it is useful to talk to them to see if other sightings were made around the same time.

The condign report goes into more detail of the latest 'secret' UK government investigation into UFO's.

All the best,
Swindon UFO Research.

they were not ufos, they are just the orange flares the army send up to light up the area when they are on excercise in and around salisbury plain and tidworth to upavon - areas .

i see them all the time and they can be seen as far away as highworth when they drift over the hills .

sometimes you can see as many as 20 lit up at once .

in fact if you live in upavon you will most likely get buzzed by low flying helicopters in the middle of the night too .

I drive through Highworth on a regular basis and have done so for many years, so in reply to captain sensibles post above all i can say is do you really think people are so gulible to believe your sighting of a police officer patroling the beat around highworth, believe me you live in a fantacy world get a life. As for the UFO sightings around Swindon wow much more interesting. zzzzzzzzz

vistrom says...

Swindon police today say that reported sightings of a police officer seen patroling the streets of highworth are totaly unfounded and should not be taken seriously. they say no further investigation will take place into what they consider pure fantacy. On another matter they say the reported sightings of UFO,s around Swindon is still under investigation and no resorces will be spared until they get to the bottom of this matter.
