Melksham's annual civic service at St Michael’s Church went without a hitch over the weekend as dignitaries from surrounding towns came to enjoy the day.
The yearly event, saw newly elected councillors and this year’s mayor, Richard Wiltshire, welcomed by mayors and their deputies from other Wiltshire towns as well as Melksham town councillors.
Assistant town clerk and projects officer, Maggie Giddings, said guests included mayors and deputy mayors from Wotton Bassett, Bradford on Avon, Chippenham and Calne, as well as Melksham town crier Peter Dauncey, who led the procession at 2.15pm on Sunday.
She said: “It all went very well and following the church service there were refreshments in the Assembly Hall as well as displays by local voluntary organisations.”
