PRESIDENT Barry Wheeler led his Wiltshire representative side to a 134-111 victory over the Friends of English Bowling in a special match played at North Wilts BC (Chippenham).
Rink honours went to Wiltshire 3-2 with one rink drawn.
In the battle of the top officials rink, Wiltshire president Barry Wheeler came out on top by six shots over Barry Donovan.
RESULTS Rink1: John Kerslake (Malmesbury), Bill Knight (Spencer Moulton), Richard Gardiner (Supermarine) and Keith Evill (Ramsbury & Aldbourne) drew with Dawn Toomer, Antony Drury (both Wiltshire), Don Pugh (Herefordshire) and Colin Dunstone (Hertfordshire) 15-15.
Rink 2: John Barlow (R&A), Mike Hallam (Downton), Denis Richman (Winsley) and Don French (Trowbridge Town) lost to Peter Cast (Somerset), Dave Gallop, Kath Lloyd (both Wilts) and Alan Gray (Somerset) 20-21.
Rink 3: Bob Roberts-Phare (Malms), Dave Eaton, Stan Twine (both Wootton Bassett) and Max Holland (Purton) beat Cedric Always (Gloucestershire), Anne Gray, John Durston (both Somerset) and Peter McNulty (Herts) 27-19.
Rink 4: Barry Wheeler (president, Swindon), Richard Badger (R&A), Roger Green (senior vice-president, SM) and Bob Hiles (Swindon) beat Barry Donovan (Essex), Graham Rogers (Berkshire), David Holloway (Hereford) and Ian Willingham (Yorkshire) 27-21.
Rink 5: Bob Cotterill (Pewsey Vale), Vic Ackland (Trowbridge Westbourne), Ron Salsbury (Westlecot) and Ian Francis (SM) lost to Stuart Lake (Northants), Geoff Toomer (Wilts), Mike Drage and Bob Sprules (Hampshire) 21-25.
Rink 6: Alan Groves (W’cot), Les Cook (Trow W), Jack Peterson and Alan Penfold (both S’marine) beat John Willingham (Yorks), Fred Firkins (Hereford), Michael Young (Hants) and George Henderson (Wilts) 24-10.
Overall score: Wiltshire beat Friends of English Bowling 134-111.
Seventy-two hours later Wheeler led his representative side to a four-shot victory over Cornwall in a friendly match played at Exonia (Exeter).
RESULTS Rink 1: G Annetts beat D Robinson 36-15; Rink 2: A Penfold lost to S Barber 15-28; Rink 3: M Alexander lost to M Daniel 16-33; Rink 4: N Gould beat J Hancock 27-15; Rink 5: J Wilks beat P Heayns 21-17; Rink 6: B Crabb lost to J Wallis 19-22.
Overall score: Wiltshire beat Cornwall 134-130.
