Lavington School prom

Year 11 students at Lavington School said farewell to their friends at their prom on Friday.

A total of 117 students out of 130 attended the party at Leigh Park Hotel in Bradford on Avon, which was one of the highest attendances ever.

The teenagers looked dazzling in their dinner jackets and ball gowns.

Most arrived in limousines but a few chose unconventional modes of transport.

These included Leo Springate and Jethro Thompson who bounced up the drive to the hotel on 1970s style Space Hoppers.

Shannon Kerfoot arrived on a Hell’s Angel type tricycle while friends Ben Appleby, George Thomas, Robert Williams and Dan Williams turned heads by arriving in Army type Land Rovers.

The students tucked into a buffet and enjoyed a disco but spent a lot of time sitting and chatting to each other.

Teacher Mike Henley, pastoral leader of the upper school, said: “We don’t have a sixth form at Lavington so this was the last time that they would all be together. They took photos of each other and there were some tears amongst them.

“The boys looked really smart in their dinner jackets while the girls looked grown up in their dresses.

“They are a fantastic year group, they are nice people and they have gelled as a group so well together.”
