Estate community group could be formed after meeting tonight

A meeting will take place tonight to look at the possibility of setting up a community group on an estate near Trowbridge.

The meeting, which takes place in The Lounge at Paxcroft Community Centre in Hackett Place, Paxcroft Mead, will look at what the community group would do, what the benefits are and how it would work.

Cllr Steve Oldrieve, Wiltshire Council’s councillor for Paxcroft Mead, has organised the meeting after sending out questionnaires to all residents asking them what they wanted to see on the estate.

He said: “I see this very much as an exploratory meeting.

“With an opportunity for residents to ask myself and an officer from Trowbridge Town Council about how community groups work.

“I believe this is a great opportunity to provide a focus group to enhance Paxcroft Mead and provide a voice to local government and other agencies working in the area.

“So I would encourage people to attend, ask questions and lets see if there is support to initiate a steering group to set a community group for Paxcroft Mead.”

The meeting takes place tonight from 7.30pm until 8.30pm.

Was an officer of Hilperton Parish Council also attending?

Will any community grants from Trowbridge Council be matched by Hilperton Parish Council?

Residents of Paxcroft Mean seem to conveniently forget that the majority of them do not pay council tax to Trowbridge Town Council because they actually live in Hilperton but they still expect to be able to use amenities paid for and provided by the town.
